However, just like with having a baby there's never any perfect financial moment to get married. I got married in the last semester of undergrad and we're coming up on 13 years married. It can sometimes be a bad financial decision, but especially for people who live together before they get married there's often no appreciable financial difference. I also found that it was easier to live cheaply at the beginning of my marriage because we were both so used to being poor students. I remember being blown away and excited about my grad school assistantship and now it seems like such a ludicrously tiny amount of money. LOL

But everyone's experience is different.

I know so many people (including my parents) who got married right after college, which age- and finances-wise is practically the same thing as getting married during college. Weirdly, I don't know a single person who got married during college. If I knew someone who did, I'd probably wonder "why the rush?" but not get judgey about it.

I know a few people who got married during college. There were mostly two reasons. One, the girl got pregnant or two, the guy was in the military and they got married before he deployed.

well for us we already been living together for 2 years and we knew we were going to get married. we already had a joint bank account and all of the sorts of things that married couples do when they consolidated their lives. we knew we were going to grad school and we knew that we would be going hundreds of miles away to grad school. both sets of parents live in basically the same area and we knew it would be a lot easier to plan and conduct a wedding when everyone was living in the same place then it would be to wait until we were living 500 miles away and having to do everything by phone because the internet was not really a viable option then.

I just said normally, not always. Where I am* it's normally best to get a bit of stability at a good job after graduating before getting married. This isn't the case for everyone. I have one friend who married early at 21. But it worked for her. (Though she did have a lot of parental support.) I only meant in a lot of cases where I'm from. Sorry.

oh no I didn't mean to imply that you said anything wrong just offering another perspective that's all. I think there's a lot of sound financial sense in many cases in waiting to get married.

I love dancing. Now that I am old and we live in the middle of nowhere, there is no dancing. *sad sad* LOL

I always look forward to when we visit our friends in New Orleans because then we have dancing.

I just dance wherever, whenever. You should try it in the middle of a conversation. People get weirded out. It's great.
