Because I like my specific ships and reading about them having sex. It's very rare that I want to have sex with a character. (Of course, I have a few exceptions.)

Most of the time I prefer to fantasize about pairing I ship, but there are some few characters (2 or 3) that turn me on so much.

Imagining myself into the scenario ruins everything. It is a pile of DNW and is an active turn off.

I ship a lot of hero/villains, so yeah, same here. It's all about the actual characters and their fucked-up emotional dynamics for me.

I've never wanted to have sex with a character.

I like my ships, because I think those two characters work well together or would have an interesting relationship. I've never run into a character that I thought I'd have in interesting relationship with. In fact, most of the time I think it would be way too much work to have relationship with most of the characters I like.

I'm uncomfortable with the thought of having sex at all, so I can only get off to thoughts of other people having sex.
