I got an IUD placed today and omfg it hurt. But I got through it because I have an excellent doctor and she talked me through the entire process. She had me talk to her during it, since it kept me from breathing too deeply (which could've led to me passing out), so we talked about Thanksgiving and Lady Gaga's Holiday Special. Just as the long needle necessary for administering the cervical block was put in place I gasp/shrieked, "Joseph Gordon Levitt!"

That was my big hurdle and expense (no health insurance) for the month, but I was prepared and survived, so I'm glad for that. Now I'm tired and uncertain of whether I want to brave the snowstorm on its way tomorrow morning in order to get to work.

I am glad your visit with the doctor went well.

And yep, I am having the same uncertainty about work tomorrow too.

Oh man. I have always suspected that contrary to the brochures those hurt to have placed. I'm sorry it was so painful.

My doctor let me take breaks and listened to me when it got to be too much. The major pain wasn't exactly the placement, but the cervical block. There was just so much cervical contact that it got difficult to endure.

However, I am pleased that I will be beating my uterus back into submission.

Ha, yes! I am looking forward to not having to make plans around it.

She is, hands down, the best doctor I've ever had. I don't have insurance, and while I had the savings to cover it, I do know I could've gone to Planned Parenthood for much less. However, I doubt I would've had a doctor like her handle it. She genuinely cares, which makes all the difference.

Not having insurance is rough, I know from experience. *commiserates*
