Part of me would like to think that most of the people going on about how "sweet" their relationship would be, are being ironic.

But part of me knows that there's probably some people who are being 100% literal.

The whole reason I love this pairing is because of how twisted and unhealthy it would be. I love dysfunctional and fucked up pairings!

I don't judge people who ship this.

But I DO judge people who think Hannibal would be good for Will and/or think it would be a healthy relationship.

This right here is why I love Hannibal fandom. The super dark humor gallows humor. What other fandom has this?

I've seen this section of fandom and nope. Obviously, they've been watching a different show than I have. (The people who say they'd be a cannibal for Hannibal are also a special breed.)

i'm genuinely baffled by the people who try to justify hannbal's behavior as helpful, good for will, or healthy in any way. maybe in the earlier episodes their friendship could have been interpreted as healthy because it did originally seem like hannibal wanted to help will come out of his shell and become more self-assured and accepting of his gift.

but that was thrown straight out the window when hannibal hid the fact that will had encephalitis for his own amusement. oh, and when he FRAMED WILL FOR MULTIPLE MURDERS WHICH RESULTED IN WILL BEING ARRESTED AND JAILED.

hell, even word of god has said that hannibal would kill/eat will if he suddenly felt like it. hannibal is not a good person, and he certainly isn't good for will in any way.

I like Will/Hannibal in fic because their relationship is totally messed up. It is not healthy and Hannibal is a shit person who isn't good for Will. The end of season one showed that.

I love "Will and Hannibal live happily ever after" fics as much as the next person, but are there people who seriously think this relationship would work in canon? o_O

I haven't seen that as much as people assuming you think it's healthy and a good idea if you do ship it, or that if you acknowledge that Hannibal has certain feelings for Will, you must be saying those feelings are healthy and good and that he's a nice, normal person you'd love to have such a relationship with in real life. It could only really happen if the rest of Hannibal's campaign to make Will a murderer worked out a lot better than the first phase, but I have yet to see that process written believably in fic and am not sure I actually want to. It's more of a "one night of crazy good sex that they never talk about but will never be able to forget as they keep pursuing each other in different ways in future seasons" kind of scenario for me, so I'm writing that.
