I will also note that I was unable to get past some of the magical and political stuff in an "Excuse me? Movie? I have questions." sort of way. I wouldn't call them plot holes, exactly, but the logic of the world didn't line up for me. If this is the kind of thing that bothers you I would recommend against the film.
