Oh, I love fanmixes. I've actually been thinking of doing a fanmix rec thread here on f!s, but now I'm wondering if anyone would be interested...

I enjoy them. It puts me in the headspace of whatever character, pairing or series the mix is inspired by, and like shorty said, it's a good way to find new music too. I listen to a loooot of fanmixes while I'm working out; it keeps my mind occupied and gives me something to think about.

IDK, to me I always get to thinking about how the songs can relate to the characters, pairing or the setting, and find that fascinating. Some fanmixes are not even that 'in character' but I still find myself enjoying them if I like the music. Either way: music, man.

I'd be interested in a rec thread. I agree with what you're saying.

I'm glad to not be alone in this! (I'll try to make a thread tomorrow. If not, before the week is up.)

I would post a rec thread! I don't personally enjoy fanmixes, but a lot of people do. So go for it.

I think for me, it's that as I said below, I used to be really into fanvids and filks, when they were more of a thing than I think they are now (particularly filks, but also fanvids due to copyright stuff), so fanmixes don't feel like... enough for me.

I love both, tbh. Fanmixes are great but fanvids were my first love and I'll always enjoy them more simply because I adore visuals. Plus, the cuts of a fanvid can be extremely clever and effective. I love music though, so even if it isn't the same it still comes from the same place.

... I'm afraid I can't give credit to all of the mixes, though, some of them have been in my hard drive for years ;; But I'll do what I can!

Basically I have all of these, plus a folder of their own for Homestuck, MGS, Star Trek's Kirk/Spock and X-Men's Cherik.

Ahhhhhhhh you've got a whole MGS subfolder! And a Big Boss/Ocelot mix at that! And Snake/Otacon too?! Okay ngl, I expected this much of you.

I bet other people would enjoy some of your favorite Charles/Erik mixes as well. They're a popular pairing. (One that I love as well.)

Too bad 8tracks wasn't around when these mixes were made, because it would be so easy to link to them. :(

Ahaha, I guess it was to be expected, that I had every Otasune FST under the sun, isn't it? X'D Even that one Fly did on the halcyon days of the fandom.

I have some more in my 8-tracks, actually X'D (Cloud Atlas, WTNV and moar MGS). It'll be awesome to share the FSTs, I'm so looking forward to it! I want to see yours too :3
