I took a Television course in college, and I journaled about The Office throughout the semester. We were supposed to do current episodes but I think were supposed to do at least one entry on something different. So I decided to compare the season 2 Christmas episode with the Season 8 Christmas episode (the season I was looking at). The difference in tone between the earlier seasons of The Office and the later seasons is kind of incredible.

Part of that is also because the first two seasons were way more influenced by the British original until the American Office found its own voice. I can't speak on Season 8, since I only watched up to season 6, but there is a big difference between Season 2 (my favorite) and season 6.
