Awesome places to buy soap?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-10 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
I want to get a friend some "fun" but good soap for Christmas, something that's good for skin as well as smelling good. Bath and Body Works has these aromatherapy soaps that are kind of interesting but I don't really know if it's any better for your skin than regular soap and I'm worried they could irritate her skin.

So does anybody know some awesome soap?

LUSH makes awesome soap. They are based in the UK and Canada but have a good number of stores in the US, and of course online. My latest favorite soap maker is Indigo Wild/Zum. They are US based and you can find them in many Whole Foods stores, although there is greater selection online. If you order from Indigo Wild online or by catalog, they will also give you a surprising amount of free samples!

I'm not the one who asked these questions, but this is awesome info, thanks!

Seconding the Lush recommendation. They make a really gorgeous range of soaps and other bathtime goodies, from natural/fair trade/cruelty free ingredients.

Thirding Lush! Their stuff is cruelty-free (though not ALL of it is vegan, there are some hair creams that have beeswax and lanoline).

Amazing stuff, good for delicate skin and hair, it all smells very good. I just wish it weren't so expensive here.

I like Fresh. It's expensive, but soooooooooooooo yummy. I also like Aveda's Rosemary Mint bar soap.

Indigo Wild has a dupe of Aveda's Rosemary Mint. I had a bar of it on my sink and a friend of mine used it and she was all, "what is this, it smells just like this Aveda soap I have but it looks really different."

Also, Dr. Bronner's makes bar soap.

Late reply but hope you see it anyway - Bath and Body Works uses a LOT of artificial fragrance in their products, and for people who are chemically sensitive it's pretty bad. LUSH is a safer choice, Aveda is a *great* choice, as is anything from Origins. But if you're looking for fun, inexpensive things - look at The Body Shop, if they have them in your area. Sometimes their products are sold through Ulta.

thanks for replying, glad I checked back ha ha.

That was why I didn't really want to get her something from B&BW, I was worried about her getting irritated. I'm checking out the body shop right now to see what they have thanks for the idea :)
