Who cares? A lot of people, apparently. I don't really, mostly because I almost never agree with the song choices (as you said, songs tend to be pretty vague, so something has to be REALLY SPECIFIC in order for it to work on a fanmix in my case) or else I hate the style of songs (I sorta don't listen to much modern music honestly, it tends to bore me), but an awful lot of people do like them. I'd upload my own sometimes except that as mentioned, my musical taste is probably suspect to most people under 60 (even though I'm under 40).

At any rate, despite not liking most fanmixes, I'm not going to begrudge anyone their enjoyment of them. I know plenty of people find cosplay a source of fandom shame or secondhand embarrassment, and I have publicly thrown myself into that hobby with great glee. ;)
