Re: Who's your favorite fictional detective?
Haven't played it, but I've been looking at segments (skip to 3:50 for the actual first part) and screencaps where I can. Hopefully I'll be able to get a Japanese 3DS to eventually buy the game... twice? aw man. Still though, it's gold for dialogue between either lawyer's POV and their assistant. The entire premise is ridiculous, but you get the chance to explore certain sections of the areas you aren't allowed to investigate in the main game (WAA office for instance! that red jacket? it's Apollo's!). The quizzes themselves are okayish I suppose. I guess it's a bit like Layton, and your assistant is a bit like your Luke, or a Watson your lawyer gets to amaze with how they solve these things. Still, for the chance to have that extra bit of commentary on those unexplored areas and more dialogue between characters, it's wonderful even if it's not a lot.
Someone in the CR forums has been translating the dialogue bits (not the quizzes) whenever they can though, so there's that.
At least I have fanart and fanfiction to satiate the lack of closure with the siblings.
I don't know about Kay though. She's more of a deus ex machina with her ability and introduction if I want to simplify her. The most I ask for story and characters is that I feel strongly about it in any direction, rather than having it/them fall flat. And so far AA/AI has been pretty good about it's protagonists, villains, and prosecutors in that regard. (Simon will probably grow on me eventually, and I'll wonder why I didn't think about him from a different new meta angle or whatever).
Re: Who's your favorite fictional detective?
The segment link goes to the normal youtube video page for me :( I'll check youtube to see if I can find it. If you can understand what is being said, twice is fine, haha. I would too. (That reminds me that Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is coming out soon! Super excited for it.)
Thanks for the translation links!
Fanfic does make everything better :)
Fair enough. I need to replay Investigations and see if my opinion of her has changed.
