Secret 7 - Marco Mengoni, Max Pezzali (882), Italian Music, MTV Europe Music Awards

I discovered Marco Mengoni a few weeks ago on the MTV Europe Music Awards and thought his music was amazing. It wasn't until I found that he beated Max Pezzali for "Best Italian Act" (due votes) and I cannot listen to Marco without thinking he doesn't deserve it.

Secret because no one cares about MTV anymore, it's a very silly reason to be pissed about and because in the end I liked Marco's music.

Another secret? I really need more friends into Italian music.

Oh wow, a secret about Italian music? Here, on F!S?! I really can't believe it... I think I'm already dreaming (it's almost 4AM here in Italy).

Weeell, I'm not a fan of Mengoni, but he really has a great voice, but yeah, I don't think he could ever beat Max Pezzali in a duet. Maybe he won due to popularity? Sorry, I don't know anything about that show...

While I much prefer 883 since well, I grown up listening to them, I still think that Max Pezzali is one of the greatest italian artists. He, I even wanted to go to his concert last week but I had to work.

Can I suggest you other great Italian artists?

I'm OP. I think Marco has a pretty nice voice, but Max Pezzali is... well, Max. I found him for La Regina Del Celebrita's mix from Eiffel 65 and I love him so much. And yeah, "Best Italian act" is from votes.

Came here only to say that I'm Italian and we also have good music besides this? Actually what comes to mind now would be:

Planet Funk
Blonde Redhead
Subsonica
Elio e le Storie Tese
Negrita
Marlene Kuntz
Verdena
Emiliana Torrini (half Italian)

There are so many more, but now these come to mind... most of them don't even look like Italian because they work in the US. Sadly.

IMO Mengoni is far more talented than Pezzali who might be more popular due to him being an older artist. Genre-vise though they're too different to compare maybe.
