I'm just really pissed that they weren't going to go there but decided to do it anyway. When Evangeline Lilly's casting was announced, PJ straight up said that there was no romantic connection between her and Legolas, plus Lilly recently said she was promised she wouldn't be involved in another love triangle and then it was added in for reshoots.

Plus, from what little I've heard, it's going to make Legolas look like a jackass. :|

Well, as far as Legolas is concerned, he was a jackass when it came to dwarves until he became BFFs with Gimli. That's still a long way off at this point.

True - but it makes Legolas come across as really petty and well, racist, - especially considering that in interviews they're saying flat-out that Kili/Tauriel is why Legolas "really hates" dwarves at the start of LOTR.

Which, one, doesn't bode well for Tauriel surviving these films and, two, will have little pay-off since Gimli & Legolas' friendship is never given much time in the LOTR films.

Yep. I really, really do not want Tauriel and Kili reduced to the excuse for Legolas' racism in LOTR (which I don't think is really apparent in the films? There's like one snarky comment to Gimli before they're BFFs).

I will be very amused if Legolas ends up hating dwarves more than Thranduil, tho.
