yeah... I mean it's a more complex case because on one side you have telepaths and empaths being treated as less than human by their own kind for their abilities often locked in a "treatment facility" whose methods are more like torture and taught to hate themselves. Many go crazy partly because of the effects of the power and partly because of the environments they're growing up in. It's actually pretty rare to find telepaths that are powerful enough to mind-screw people with their power (as opposed to knowledge from the power which could be used to manipulate people), this particular one has some magic "help"

On the other, yeah it's a scary ability that makes people uneasy.and they're less raging bigots and more "I don't trust you and I don't like you , stay away from me"
