This is why I wish they'd interviewed the little girl. But the school heavily implied that she did not consent, and the boy's mom seems to be a bit delusional so I don't want to take her at her word. It seems very likely that she did not.

Also, yes it's normal for kids to have "boyfriends and girlfriends" but if the boy is using those terms and the girl doesn't want to use them, then he needs to be corrected because that sets a pretty nasty stage for his view of relationships with women (i.e. that he gets to define the nature of such a relationship without her say) and his mom needs to stop talking like they really are bf/gf.
