Shit Stream 37: MORE MARTIAL ARTS

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-12-12 04:46 am (UTC)(link)

It's time for the most hentai best Japan has to offer! In this perverted night, we see what happenes when a repressed society puts some stuff they needed to get out onto film!

A boy must become a hero, with a power inherited from the last generation... in this case his mom's S&M worker genes ... well, you use the powers your blessed with. HENTAI KAMEN!

It's gonna get special

Also Hentai Kamen's female Equivalent, Keiko Kamen, if I can find a goddamn sub (why this is so hard to find I have no idea. The anime has all the dubs and subs up but nobody in america wants text to get in the way of the live action boobies apparently)

Then... a movie that doesn't even pretend it's got any good taste... Zombie Ass: Toilet of the dead!

It's about what it sounds like! Saturday 6pm Est!

F!S Index

I've been steadily updating these last few days (and hope to be doing at least one post a day every day for a while), and I've just hit my first "Oh, god, tell me this isn't really a thing" secret (Sadly, it's a thing.)

May I present to you the movie Monsturd:
Post 144: May 29, 2007; number 12.

Transcript:
A movie poster of a hand-shaped pile of poo reaching out of a sewer to grab a woman's leg. The tag: "Mosturd: Out of the sewers and into your nightmares." The secret: I rent bad movies just because they're bad. ]:

If this isn't begging to be a shitstream movie, I don't know what is. And I kind of want OP to tell us about it (anonned, if they want).

In other Index news, I've just hit the beginning of our first summer. "Heroes" secrets are starting to creep up a tiny bit, but it's still mostly anime, videogames and, oh god, role play. For a brief moment I was hopeful because the comm had just had its first "Should we allow role-playing secrets?" poll. I had forgotten, but you might have noticed by my use of the word "first," it took at least a couple rounds to eradicate them.

I'm not the OP of that secret, but that movie is fucking abysmal. Barely worth it.

I'm looking forward to you getting to some fandoms that are effectively dead, or old news. Because I get into stuff late. Thanks for doing this!

I like what you are doing with these. I sometimes check posts from waaay back and let the time pass me by reading them.

(It's also great to catch up on secrets about stuff like movies and series I didn't watch when they first came out but I enjoy now.)

So, um, yes, good work!

Timing and posting fic

(Anonymous) 2013-12-12 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
How much does timing matter when posting fic? I ask because I've been posting fic in the morning (since I won't have time otherwise, and nobody's really around on the weekends), and nobody's responded. I feel like posting earlier has always lost reviews, but posting after work when everyone's in or out for the night has hurt me, too. I don't want to ask if it's timing because it seems like whining (it's really not), but I do feel like I'm missing out on the "prime time" for getting responses. :( This has been going on for years btw. (And is why I miss there being more archives, where fics just... stay there for at least a few days.)

I've found that posting on Sunday evenings and Monday around three or four o'clock nabs me the greatest viewing audience, because on Mondays everybody who's in the primary school system gets home and doesn't want to buckle down and do homework. I'm not sure about Sunday nights but I'm guessing it's because it's the tail-end of the weekend and also the procrastination factor.

It really depends on the archive, believe it or not.

There's one archive where I get my most reviews when I post in the morning (like, 25 or more per chapter, easily. And no, I'm not a BNF.) And very few reviews when I post in the evening, at night, or in the wee hours.

There's another archive where posting in the morning does nothing for me... but posting in the late afternoon on Thursday through Sunday is a good idea.

I don't know where you're posting but generally speaking, the secret to getting loads of reviews (and I assume that's what you want, rather than simply views) is to write the entire story out ahead of time and then post it like clockwork. I strongly suspect that the reason that I do so well review-wise is that when I start posting a new story, I usually have a set schedule for updating it - every day in the morning, once a week on Thursdays, whatever. People are creatures of habit.
