10. I really don't think many of them care whether it's interesting to you or not. They probably aren't talking about it for your sake, they're doing it for theirs, or the people they were talking with. Advertising, because they want to get these ideas down on paper/screen (this is the only reason why I would ever talk about my stories), or just because they can relate to what someone else has said via their fic.

True. And talking about fic can be fun at times. But there´s always those who just don´t stop. Ever.

I agree with you there--people who don't shut up about their plots and their characters are pretty damn annoying.

That's why writing forums exist, so you can rant about your stuff all you want and not irritate anyone, because everyone on the forum is doing exactly the same thing. =\ I don't know why some people can't just let their creative energy out in those places instead of blabbering on to deaf ears.

Yeah, that´s it! I like sharing opinions about writing as much as the next nerdy gal, but as soon as I realize I´m being subjected to a wanky recap-monologue about how epic this and that in his/her next fic will be, I WANT TO RUN.

Because, let´s face it, all those ideas are mostly exactly 40% less awesome than they think they are. :D I´m no exception.

Also, I really like it when fics speak for themselves. In my experience, if you did a good job people will read your stuff without too much. shameless plugging.

You may be right that authors do it for their own reason and don't care whether I find it interesting, but I agree with the secret anyway.

I've seen people who can't make a single post in a forum without blathering on and on about their OCs and fics and it gets to the point where my eyes glaze over when I see their username and it's *scrollscrollscroll* because I do not fucking care. I will read the fic, but I don't need commentary 24/7 or I will overdose and never look at your stuff again.

Yeah, that´s part of what I meant - I mean, I´d rather watch, say, Spiderman 3 instead of having someone tell the whole plot to me. 8D I don´t know why people can´t just let their writings talk instead of thinking they have to point you towards how awesome it is. IF it´s awesome, we´ll know after reading it.
