Does it matter whether their partners are casual or genuine love affairs that keep going wrong because plot? Or does their attitude/general demeanor matter the most? Or do you disapprove in general? Do you have double standards?

I don't care at all as long as it safe and consensual.

I don't care. Jealousy, I guess, insofar as one can be jealous of fictional characters (but that's not very much).

Depends on their attitudes and how its portrayed. As for general "people having lots of sex" I don't care. Sex up the whole town if that's your thing and it's all safe and consensual.

Depends on how it's presented. If a characters is unapologetic about their sex life and it's not pure fanservice, it's great (more power to them). If there's a bunch of sex just to get, say, a female character naked for the sake of titillation, I'm like fuck that.

Depends on the character's attitude and how it's presented.

Depends on the attitude, but also on the culture and time period. Being a ladies' man now is a-okay, but a long time ago, you could be endangering women's reputations and there was no reliable birth control.

Assuming women a long time ago were innocent featherbrained morons who never considered that they might be risking their reputation and took the risk anyway, because only men are the ones who have to think and be responsible, amirite?

That's all fine and good for the reputation part, but how many people knew protection was needed in sex to avoid pregnancy? People barely know it now.

Generally, the more sex there is in the narrative, the more bored I grow. I've little interest in romance for the sake of romance (or intercourse for the sake of intercourse). So, characters who have a lot of sex are boring unless the writing technique is astonishingly good and the sex plays an important role in their characterization.

Though usually I still cannot sympathize with these characters and am rather cold towards them, even if they interest me as plot devices. Just. Sex is such a stupid activity. [as in, I perceive it as such - obviously I'm not forcing my judgement on anyone].

The interesting part is that I like sexual intimacy as a characterization technique, it just should neither occur too often nor be described in a porny way (as if the author wants the reader to become aroused).

I only really care if they're somehow disrespectful of their partners or of people who don't engage in so much sex.

I also usually prefer if the author/creator doesn't give them a tragic backstory to explain away why they have a lot of sex, but I can forgive that.

I don't really have any opinion on the character exactly, but depending on how its presented I'll have a lot of opinions on the director/writer/decision maker. Also depends on books vs tv/movies. I am bored and put off by sex scenes in movies, but will usually read them.

Unless it's non-consensual, I think they're...fine? The only situation I can think of that's not strictly non-consensual but also not fine is if the character is mistreating their partners in some way, like just using them and throwing them away. But then that just gives me an insight into the character's personality, so...it's also fine.

Depends on the way it's presented. By which I mean, not necessarily the character's attitude, but the style of the sex. If the getting together is all awkward and lame and embarrassing and pathetic and lol men are horny/lol women are silly, I hate it. Especially if it has a guy hitting on a girl in a really eye-rolling way and the girl shutting him down nastily in a way that's supposed to be "funny."

On the other hand, if the person has sex in a way that's passionate or fun (or funny! I love sex that's funny without being second-hand-embarrassment-inducing), even if it's totally casual, I love it. I especially like seeing characters who are secure and confident and mature in their sexuality, simply because this type of depiction is so damn rare in mainstream media.

It depends on so many things. I don't think I can even give a response. In general I don't look favorably on lots of sex not within a relationship, but in a story there are so many factors to consider.

I don't really care? It could be interesting to explore a character either way in fic but with canon I just...don't really care much. Unless it's being used to portray the person as 'bad'. Then frowny faced

I'm fine with it except in instances where the character is using sex as a tool. That just really skeeves me for some reason.

And yet we watched every single James Bond movie.

This is a total non-factor in whether I like a character or not. It depends on their personality and character development. So the fact that they have a lot of sex could be part of an interesting, well-developed character, and I'd like them. Or it could be part of a boring two-dimensional character and I wouldn't. Whether they have casual sex or not or what their attitudes toward sex are could be anything in the world. As long as it makes for an interesting character.

I disapprove, but unless it's a major part of the story and/or the whole "casual sex is perfectly okay and if anyone disapproves they'e wrong" opinion is pushed as something so utterly obvious that there's no possible way anyone could think differently, it doesn't tend to interfere with my enjoyment of the story/character, I guess?

Don't care so long as it's not 'omg, look how kiiiiiiiiiinky!!!! we are!!' kind of dumb-ass sex that's not really kinky at all.

Or if it's just boring, rote stuff tossed in every other chapter 'cause the author thought there should be porn.

It only annoys me when A) it's used as an example of how the character must be sad or crazy or horrible (without actually displaying life-ruining sex addiction) for having consensual sex with different people and enjoying it, and B) when it's the defining trait of a character that's always being brought up. Two of my favorite characters in my current main fandom love sex and have it frequently, but it seems like every other word out of their mouths is a dirty joke or a proposition. It's like, okay, they have a lot of kinky sex, awesome, can we stop talking about it already, there's other things about them that I find more interesting.
