Probably my street. Like...we have a really great house and we are surrounded by the skeeviest people. And yes, I am forced to go there every day. :(

I live about fifty minutes from the place with highest crime rate in the US. I stopped there once. Never again.

Honestly there are only a tiny number of places in my city I would be unwilling to go alone, and that would be some of the proper sink estates with the worst gang problems.

Stonebridge estate jumps to mind, with police officers on shift having been robbed of their gear.

It is literally on the wrong side of the tracks near downtown. And, nope, you couldn't pay me to go there after the sun has gone down. Too many muggings for my unlucky self.

That would be housing near the downtown area. There's been multiple shootings, stabbings, and even a gang rape in the area. Some people have died from these incidences. That's not including the typical nonlethal crimes that happen like robberies, assault, drug raids, kidnappings, and kids ganging up and beating kittens to death (though sometimes people will step in and stop the kids from doing this). I don't live there personally, but my best friend does and she's filled me in on all these details over the years she's lived there.

It depends on who you talk to. Some people claim its Deep Elm and people my mother's age freak out that I'm so close to 'Skilman' (you know never mind that there is a Central Market a block from me and Highland Park right across the highway). But really any place in the city can be dangerous is you aren't careful.

Probably the area around the train station. There's broken glass and litter in the underpass sometimes and every now and then you seem teenagers/young adults loiter around the place, especially the construction site just off the platform. And they broke the overhead lights of the underpass just recently, which is a pain in the ass when you need to use it after it gets dark. Which is at around 4pm what with it being winter right now, so fuck you, assholes. Some of us have to commute.

But yeah, I go there. I wouldn't go there for a walk, but it's not bad enough that I have to avoid the area either. I do wish it was better lit, though. :/


Edit: Man, reading the other comments I feel ridiculously sheltered. Broken glass! Litter! This is my definition of the bad part of town. This is why I really don't mind not living in a major city.

Probably Hunter's Point. Some people would probably say the Tenderloin but they're wrong.

And I don't go there but mostly because there's no reason for me to do so. The only thing that really attracts people from outside is the football stadium, and I don't go to football games anymore (and the stadium's going to be demolished after this year anyway).

Probably North Minneapolis? Idk, there are certain places that are kind of dangerous. I've walked around supposedly dangerous parts in my city and they're really not. There was one place by my university that was rumored to be SO dangerous, but it was basically a low-income area; there were a lot of families there, and I never felt unsafe there.

The only place that's dangerous in Devizes is a council estate with a violent crazed douche who is a total prick to me for no reason. that and the rather scenic wood that has crack addicts camping in there.

This time of year, probably the woods. Lots of snowmobile and hunting accidents. Maybe the lakes this time of year since idiots always forget that a skim of ice does not mean you can set up your ice fishing shack or drive your truck on the lake.

No part of the city is dangerous during daytime, and as long as you avoid the proximity of certain bars or apartment buildings, you'll be safe during the night as well. But no, I stay the hell away from those places.

For the city I currently live in, it's this area where the local ethnic minority is concentrated. I go there regularly - I like walking there. Don't give a damn about the danger, mostly because I've spent two-thirds of my life in another city which was much more dangerous. Ever since the seventh grade I habitually carry a knife or a screwdriver in my pocket.

I do not have a city. I have a town of about 4000 people. I don't think there are really any dangerous parts. Maybe just being out on the road after dark because there are no streetlights so it's kind of dangerous because cars might not see you or something.

My part of the city is considered "safe" in that of the two people killed in this area in the last two years, one of them was a block from my house, and the gang graffiti is not that obtrusive. And for context, less than half my zip code is even residential.

Better than our last home, though - that's where some guy with a bullet wound ran into the apartment building and ended up collapsing in my family's living room. Fun times. Not to mention it's also where I got a lot more propositions from strange men in nice cars who were very apathetic to just how underage I was back then. *shrugs*

I live in Seattle, and I'd say probably...Pioneer Square? Maybe certain parts of Belltown. Used to be West Seattle but that area's actually been getting a lot better lately, not sure why.

But Seattle in general isn't really that dangerous, so yeah, I still go to those places. I guess I wouldn't if it was night and I was alone, but if I'm with people it's no big deal.

The square on the south end of my city, maybe? Just the other week a 70 year old guy walked into of the homeless shelters there and started shooting.

Our downtown area has lots of gang activity. I don't go there at night alone, even though I haven't had any problems personally. My mom once walked by a shooting scene there (after the incident). Dead bodies have also been found in that area far too often.

Our downtown is really really shitty.

The stretch of the greenbelt by the Izaak Walton League, maybe? IDK, they allow bowhunting there. I should get a red hat or something, but I never remember until I'm halfway along the path.

Plus, I start thinking about rabid bobcats and coyotes anytime a stick goes crunch. And then, a mountain lion has already been shot in my state this year--in a county 200+ miles northwest of here, but they've seen them in Des Moines. But it's so damn pretty down there by the river. I'm always hoping I'll see a pileated woodpecker, but no such luck.

I don't know about the most dangerous part but there's a neighborhood that's pretty much 80 blocks due south of my house that's pretty shady and yes, I do occasionally go there because I have some friends who live there
