Internal female sex-machinery issues (TMI)

(Anonymous) 2013-12-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
So, I have a problem which basically boils down to the fact that I produce a LOT of natural lubrication when aroused. This is convenient during sex, but highly inconvenient elsewhere. If I get turned on when I'm outside, I'm always afraid that my panties might get so wet it will show in the crotch of my pants or slip down my thighs if I'm in a skirt.

Then, a couple days ago, I wondered if maybe it might be a symptom of something? Because the lubrication isn't just for sex-facilitating purposes, it's also for cleaning the area out, and maybe I'm doing something that causes me to produce too much? I have a lot of toys and stuff and put a lot of things up there, although I'm always very clean. Is this like, a thing that can happen, or do vaginas not work that way?

It is so much that it could conceivably show through your pants, really? Because cotton underwear is pretty darn good at soaking stuff up. Also, the amount of lubricant you produce varies throughout the month as your hormones fluctuate, so I have times when I'm just super wet.

If you are worried, I'd recommends seeing a doctor if you can. Honestly, what you've said sounds fairly normal to me.

I had a similar issue - not to the extent of me worrying about wetting my pants through my underwear, but enough to make me worry about discharging so much when I'm not aroused or anything like that. I brought it up with a nurse-practitioner at my gynecologist, and she said that while the amount I was describing wasn't exactly typical, it was far from unhealthy (and she did add it was likely a part of my vagina's self-cleaning process).

I just wear panty-liners on a regular basis. I know that's not strictly what they're for, but it works.

This happens to me for a couple days of the month.

Panty-liners are your friends

If it doesn't smell and doesn't have a strong color then I doubt it's a medical issue, and it's just the way your body works. Use a pantyliner, like someone else suggested.

I tend to get uncomfortably wet sometimes, not to the extent you're describing though. I don't worry about a wet spot showing as much as I worry about people picking up on a vague sex smell around me.

I did want to say I only use panty liners when I'm ovulating and it's especially wet because there is some evidence showing wearing panty liners too often can cause yeast infections. It's never happened to me but I don't really want to take the chance. I mostly try really hard to not think about sexy things if I don't have access to a bathroom.

Vaginal wetness is supposed to be linked to higher estrogen so you might want to look into a progesterone cream. I don't know if just straight eating wild yams is actually effective or just a placebo that works for some women after reading about how some progesterone creams are derived from wild yams.

Oh and I have some anecdata that says antihistamines might cause some vaginal dryness if that's something you might be interested in.

I don't have that particular problem usually, but I wear pantyliners every day as a matter of habit. It might be worth considering. Just be careful about keeping clean down there (like you do) and changing them out regularly.

I've heard of women who have so much healthy discharge when aroused that it results in literal puddles; every body is different. If it's not a new development with you (a sudden high increase in clean fluid was a warning signal for me, I had developed uterine fibroids), then it's probably nothing to worry about so long as it's not discolored or rank or anything.

Normal levels of vaginal production for females when they're aroused is anywhere from a teaspoon to a few tablespoons of fluid. And correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't sound like you're having this problem when you're not aroused?

If you were producing a lot of discharge without being aroused, that might be a sign of an infection. As it stands, anon, invest in some liners. That's what they're made for.

I've had what you describe ever since I hit puberty. Considering that was 23 years ago, I think if it were a serious problem, something would have cropped up by now. So I honestly don't think that there's anything wrong with you.

Just wear a pantyliner or ultra thin pad daily. It'll soak up the extra moisture.
