Knitting pattern suggestions?

Anybody have a good free pattern for baby clothing? Like, a hat, sweater, and booties. I need a shower gift for my cousin's kid in a couple of months.

Or just talk about your projects, whatever. I'm making a dragon!

I made both of those for a pregnant coworker some years ago and she loved them. Dead easy, too.

Right now I'm working on a pair of socks (I am always working on a pair of socks) and adding a knitted-on edging to a round blanket. There is also a gorgeous lace mohair shawl I finished a couple months ago that's still waiting for me to get off my ass and block it.

Have you checked Ravelry.com? You have to register but it's basically a godsend for people who need free online patterns.

I finished a super cute hat recently (it has a knitted fake bow on it which is great) and I'm working on some Christmas ornaments now (but I'm pretty behind).

That reminds me, I should do more baby stuff for charity.

Right now I'm making mittens for my friend's mom (I told her I'd knit some when she said she was getting her mom mittens for Christmas) and a striped Noro scarf. I'm waiting for some yarn I ordered to arrive so I can make some gloves for my girlfriend and oven mitts for my parents.

I found some really easy baby patterns (free) on the knitting section of about.com, as well as the Mary Maxim site.

A co-worker is pregnant so so far I've made booties, a hat, a pillow, a blanket, and I'm working on a cute little cardigan right now (and hoping since I just started knitting like two weeks ago that I can handle ~not straight things~ patterns okay enough to not screw the cardi up). XD

You will be fine on the cardigan! That terror about not straight things is why I'm always tempted to have beginners start out doing a hat in the round instead of a scarf--it's not substantially harder, and you get to figure out round knitting and decreases as you go. There's some great tutorials on Youtube for pretty much any kind of stitch you could possibly want, and if all else fails, there's probably a homeless person who doesn't care that you screwed up somewhere as long as it's warm.

Make sure that you've got your gauge right for the size your pattern is giving you, though, since I've run into some problems with that on hats because my gauge is mutant tiny.
