It certainly hit me a lot harder than I expected it to, since he didn't actually cross my radar that much. And since we've now found out about all the philanthropy he did behind the scenes, and the fact that he was a genuinely decent guy and not a douche, I believe the world is a worse place without him in it.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. I was amazed by how great this guy was as I read the many stories about him touching lives of stranger.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't think I've seen a single movie with him in it, and I was still heartbroken. Somehow.

"making a bigger deal than it really is as far as the world is concerned"

Oh really? You mean people are upset about a high-profile celebrity's death? It's almost like the media doesn't hype things like that over other "concerns."

New to Earth? Should I take you to my leader? Her name is Beyonce.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Except he's not much of a celebrity. I never heard of him before he died.

He was pretty popular in the early to mid 2000s, so if you are young you may not know him that well. He's in the Fast and the Furious, which is very popular.

Secret 4 - Paul Walker (actor)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-15 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the actor Paul Walker, from "The Fast and the Furious" movie series fame. He is a man with light skin, blueish gray eyes and a slight dark beard and mustache.]

His death was quite a shock and I feel for his family, friends and all who knew him. With that said, I can't help but feel that everyone is making it a bigger deal than it really is, as far as the world is concerned.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's due to it being so sudden and unexpected? When Hugh Ledger died it was all over the media too.
Saying that I didn't know him personaly, nor do I feel like I did...

Do you mean "Heath"?

Maybe celebrity deaths do get more attention than is necessary, but I don't see what's wrong with being upset about them either. I grew up watching Paul Walker and his death was an absolute shock to me; it upset me more than I ever would have imagined. Not everyone is going to be upset about his death, and not everyone will even know who he was, but it's fine to be sad when someone you liked (even if you didn't know them personality) is gone.

I dunno about others, but for me it was basically because he defined my early youth; He wasn't just insanely pretty and like the first celebrity I ever wanted to know stuff about, but he made car films! I love car films, and Fast and The Furious was pretty much the start of that love.

My best friend and I watched so many films and spent so much time together as a direct result of Paul Walker, we got an opening into the wonderful world of shiny fast cars and we didn't look back.

"as far as the world is concerned" what the hell does that even mean

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't stand it when people say stuff like this everytime a celeb dies. I can make pretty much make a bingo card out of it: "It's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Why does anyone care? There's much more important issues going on. How about r.i.p. to all of the starving children in the world?"

People don't care that you don't care. People don't care if you think his death has been made into a bigger deal than it deserved. There's nothing wrong with being sad that a celeb died, so you're just gonna have to deal with the "annoyance" of loving remembrances for a few weeks more.

-Signed, someone who hasn't seen a single Paul Walker movie in their entire life

fuckin CO-SIGNED, THANK YOU

jesus fucking christ, how dare people be sad about a DEATH

(Anonymous) 2013-12-15 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He made exactly one movie I liked. And he was so good that I followed his career ever after. He was hugely talented, far more than most of his roles would lead one to believe. He was a philanthropist and an all around decent human being. I'm sad for his family friends of course, but also for all the other people whose lives he touched, which was a hell of a lot more than you seem to think, OP.

Dude, what the fuck does it matter? It's not like there's weekly condolences rations that Walker is eating up without leaving enough left over for other people.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, "as far as the world is concerned" nothing is a big deal and nothing matters. What's your point?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
this. I'd like to know what actually is important to OP

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Of course they are. It happens for every celebrity death and yeah, it's weird.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
w/e op I'll agree with you, he wasn't exactly high profile and suddenly he's all everyone can talk about

every time a celebrity dies everyone comes out of the woodwork to talk about how much they loved them, yet while they were alive who on your friendslist or facebook feed was talking about paul walker- like, really?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-17 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think you are getting what I am saying more than the other folks on here. Thanks.

FOR THE REST OF YOU: I'm not saying he was a bad guy. I'm not saying he was god. I'm not even commenting on his celebrity status. I'm not saying anything about HIM. I'm simply bringing up the fact that people have never made such a big deal about him, until his death. It's like it's become this trendy thing to do, which is a disrespect to his life.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-16 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm exactly the opposite. MAN did I get sick of people in the days after his death coming into folk's posts and blogs where they expressed something as simple as "R.I.P." with "There are STARVING CHILDREN and WAR!! How DARE you express sadness over the death of someone who was an ACTOR?!" When did people get so darn judgey about who and how people mourn?
