Inspired one of the secrets today!

Do any of you guys have tattoos? Why'd you get them? And what are they? Or is there anything you want to get?

I'd have to think carefully, but the only thing I've thought about (besides a star) is an Ouroboros.

Yes.

Because I've wanted tattoos forever, and I decided to go through with it. :3

Three nautical stars on the back of my neck, "you are the captain of your own ship" around my left ankle.

In the future, I'd like to add

- an old fashioned sailing ship to my left calf or the top of my foot (to go with the quote)

- "I don't believe in a bleak horizon" around my right ankle ("I don't believe in a bleak horizon, I won't concede to all of that" if I can make it fit, but probably not)

-"I love the sea. The sea is everything. It is an immense desert, where man is never alone, for he can feel life stirring all around him. The sea sweeps you in wonderful and supernatural existence. It is the endless living. Only here is independence. Only here I am free." somewhere, but I'm not sure where yet, because it is wordy as all get out. |D

For years and years, I've wanted to get a tattoo of the old Konami ribbons.

Still kinda do. So much of my childhood was defined by that company.

I'd like to get some kind of bird-related tattoo.

Are we talkin' songbird or eagle?

I've thought about it for a while but eventually I came to the realization that while I enjoy many things, I don't actually care enough about anything to get it put on my skin permanently

I really want some tattoos, but I'm holding out to make sure I want them.

I kind of want some JPop-related ones. I don't want something huge or a specific name because what if they decide to retire from showbiz the day I get the tattoo, or something.

I mean, I don't want to get too fan-ish with my tattoos. But JPop has become such a major part of my life right now that I think I'd like a tattoo from that part of my life.

I want a tattoo of a Gracidea flower from Pokémon somewhere on me.

It's important to me for various reasons, including that the movie where it debuted is something that helped me cope with a very low time in my life. I'm also a fan, so it's a fandom tattoo. But because it's a flower, I can pass it off as a regular flower so it isn't such an obvious fandom tattoo.

Yes. Full back, upper right arm, abdomen. I got them because...i loved the art and wanted it on my body. (My back is art by Alphonse Mucha, with embellishments.) And because i loved the animal and what it stood for for me and wanted it on my body (upper arm is a blue jay). And because sometimes, decoration is sexy. (Abdomen is more Mucha art.)

My SO is a tattoo artist, and has been for years, and he did all the work. I'm getting a tattoo in memory of my dad soon - a stagger-wing bi-plane, as that was his favorite.

Mucha art is so beautiful. I can understand wanting his art.

I really want a tattoo, but there are three problems:

1. I don't think tattoos look really good on "chubby" areas, and my nonchubby areas are all more visible. If I get a sweet forearm tattoo I'm going to have to go to every job interview with long sleeves. Yay apple shapes. I really like my legs but I don't like leg tattoos, so...

2. I don't know what I want to get. A sweet Glaucus tattoo would be nice and suit me, but I'm not sure I'm going to want it in a couple years. I want it to mean something, y'know?

3. Academe can be really weird about tattoos. Some departments are really tattoo-positive, others might give you funny looks and not hire you. And it's difficult to really know. So I might have to wait until I'm done with the job search anyway.

Two, which I have told about on here tons of times so I won't do it again, if no one is curious?

I want more tattoos, I will probably end up pretty much covered in 'em, wasn't it for the fact that I want to easily be able to hide mine. Anyway next one I am getting is probably: "C'est la vie" and I have no idea where to put it, but I'm not too worried I barely had an idea where to put my other two tattoos either, and I like their placement.

If I ever have children I am getting their names tattooed on me, possibly with their birthdates, talking about names I want my cousins initials on me somewhere. I also want something from The Little Mermaid (the original, not the Disney film), because it was the first story I can remember being told.

I haven't heard you go one about them yet! So go for it!

If I ever get one, the only possible options are as follows:

1. rabbit, in an artsy/tribal/otherwise stylized fashion rather than cutesy
2. tree, or at least leafy vines/branches entwined around my actual limbs
3. the Rood or Rood Inverse from Vagrant Story :D

I would like a fibonacci tree of life.

Won't be able to get it anytime soon. :( I suppose waiting won't hurt.

I don't have any but I've always been envious of people who have the guts to get tattoos. There are some beautiful, beautiful tattoos out there but I'm not sure I could come to a sound decision about what I'd want, even if I could find the courage to go through with it.

Uh, if I was ever going to get one though, maybe I'd get the White Tree of Gondor. Which now that I've google searched, I know is a very common tattoo, haha, but I just think it's so gorgeous.

I have two. The Rebel Alliance symbol on my back and a steampunk heart on my shoulder.

I used to hang out with people who were friends with piercing/tattoo artists, and they said, "We can get you a good deal!" Until I showed them what I thought I wanted, a stylized wolf and a stylized fox. The good deal was three times as much as my truck payment, or twice as much as my house payment, and those two things were more important to me than ink.

I have been very happy with some henna tattoos I've gotten, though, and would like to get some henna and try drawing myself. That way, if I decide I don't like it, well, I only have to wait about two weeks before it's gone.

Yes. I have the autobot and decepticon insignias overlapping on my right shoulderblade, a half-mechanical horse and bull with planets on my left upper arm, the BDSM triskele and Polyheart as medallions on a rope around my left ankle and an Aliens vs Predator motif in progress on my right upper arm.
The a-bot/d-con and AvP tatts are because those have been fandom obsessions of mine.
Horse/bull is because I am a taurus born in the year of the horse.
Bdsm/poly because I'm kinky and live the "poly life".

I want to get more. Death from Darksiders 2 would be nice, as would Discworld Death.

I have one on the inside of my left ankle. Fandom tattoo, admittedly - it's the Sheikah eye symbol from Zelda, with the top/middle triangle replaced with a Triforce. I figure that even if one day, I no longer consider myself a Zelda fan, it still represents a very significant time of my life.

Plus, eye of truth, and the Triforce representing balance between wisdom, courage, and power. Not bad from a symbological standpoint.
