You can do that! My friend Autumn decided to do that this year. :3

Not in my family. One of the things they did this year that irritated me: parents INSISTED that I must come over to see them for my birthday, though my health had been shoddier than usual and I wasn't feeling well. I could not eat dinner, and in fact excused myself to go sit in the car a little ways into everyone else eating dinner because I felt so nauseated, and hearing other people eat and talk about food and smelling it was making me worse, even after I went into another room so I didn't have to SEE it. So I left to sit in the car and wait for my girlfriend to be done so we could leave.

So I'm sitting in the car, trying not to think about food and not be sick... and they BRING THE CAKE OUT AND SING TO ME IN THE PARKING LOT. My girlfriend of course is trailing after them like "Sigh, I tried to tell them..."

This when I've told them year after year I don't want any sort of party or big family gathering for my birthday, or any cake or cookies or dinner, I just would like a day of peace and quiet to myself where I can do what I want to do - at most I would be happy to stop by and visit briefly without food or presents being involved and then go home - and my mom insists that I can't have that. "We have to do SOMEthing!" I don't expect Christmas would be permitted either, and if I don't go to their place, they'll show up at mine. Probably caroling and making a scene. :P
