It's not "OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOKS." It's that they are proud to dismiss the books and say that the show is way more important and better - not that they personally enjoy the show and aren't interested in the books, but that lol, no1curr about the books and BBC rules all and everyone should be thankful the show came along and "fixed" the fandom, with no more silly Victorian mystery-solving guys, and why would we NOT want the obviously-superior show to invade every corner of fandom?

Also the ones who make big claims about how the show is so close to canon without ever reading canon.

That is the kind of non-book-readers that make ACD fans annoyed. Not the people who simply aren't interested in the books.
