Although actually a lot of the time when I see Fuller talking about the Hannibal/Will relationship and talking about love... I think it comes off as more being about Hannibal being intrigued by Will and being fascinated by him and enjoying messing with his mind.

But like there's no REAL love there.

It's fucked up.

Yeah, I didn't get "Hannibal might romantically/sexually love Will" from Fuller. It's a different kind of emotion that he's talking about and it's more like...Hannibal's approximation of [some kind of] love which is pretty skeevy and more about control than care.

I really don't think, from listening to Fuller talk about it, that there's any queer baiting at all. He's been very clear that they were intrigued by each other and that in a relationship of that sort things would not be clear cut. He's also made it clear that it's not going to be some romance or whatever.

But like there's no REAL love there.

I don't know that you could really say Hannibal 'loves' anyone normally. He doesn't experience emotions normally *at all*. He does care about Will, in that he likes being around him and he'd rather he didn't die unless it was inevitable...and he certainly cared about Abigail. Are either of those things love? Maybe in his head. But yeah the show engages with that, it doesn't excuse it or make it into something simplistic to bait fans with.
