I personally find Will's wardrobe fascinating. It seems at-odds with his profession, and does as much, in terms of character development and class signifiers, as Hannibal's does. But his clothes don't get as much attention *because* they're not as expensive or pretty.

Oh, absolutely. There's a lot there about wanting/not wanting to be seen. Will wears a lot of things that don't actually fit or make him look physically smaller, which is really interesting.

The wardrobe design people on this show are amazing. (okay, so are the food design people. And the set design people. And the lighting people. And-...you get the idea)

But seriously, you can tell the wardrobe has been chosen with care, and not just Hannibal's ridiculous (but I like them anyway, except the wide tie thing bothers me) suits.

Everyone is amazing, and with that level of thought and detail, I notice something new every time I watch. The tie knots are so big that I have to think of them as triple or quadruple Windsors, lol. I've read some good meta about how old world they are and how they make him look more authoritative etc., but the last one in the second row slays me every time: http://purpleseaslj.tumblr.com/post/68512325044/hannibal-suits#notes

It's almost as wide as neck! That's just getting into ridiculous territory there. :)

EDIT: also I totally just followed you (notthatjaded)

It takes a hell of a man to pull that one off. Enjoy my endless drooling over Mads-Hannibal-Will-Hugh and general silliness. XD

i think a lot of his clothes come from the book where he no longer lives in an urban environment and chooses to live basically on a farm. It is a great way to show how he doesn't really belong yet he was drawn to it by his interest/capabilities as a crime person
