Clara isn't a character, she's merely a plot device

So are all of Moffat's characters, that's nothing new. It ends up coming back to bite him, though, because when he writes gushingly overwrought scenes like the end of The Angels Take Manhattan, where he wants people to care for and empathize with the characters, I just sat there and LOLed at the scenery-chewing all the way through, because the characters were such cardboard props (for VERY thin story-telling) to begin with, that I honestly didn't care or "have teh feels" or whatever it is the kids say on Tumblr these days.
