+4 on not owning a scale. How my clothes fit, how fit I am, and how healthy I am is plenty for me. The scale numbers are really unimportant.

I get oddly defensive whenever people talk about not having or not needing a scale. I know it's not a personal attack, but I just feel defensive. Because I do need the scale to let me know how healthy I am. My mind is so distorted I really can't rely on its perception on how clothes fit or how I look. I need those numbers as a guideline to let me know I'm doing okay and still in a healthy mindset.

And the good thing is.. you know that looking at a scale works for you. :)

Scales don't work for me mostly because somehow the scale likes to tell me I'm sucking when I'm actually doing well.

For example, I used to wear a woman's 34-36 dress size.

I'm now in a 30-32 thanks to dietary changes and increased exercise.

According to the scale I've GAINED 7lbs.

That's why scales don't work for me.

Have you been training a lot? Because then that's the secret: Muscle mass is heavier than fat. Which is something people should be told when they go about losing weight by training instead of dieting because if they don't know that, looking at the scale might get pretty frustrating - gaining weight instead of losing it despite all the work they put into it.
