Considering how many battles going on (Gondor, Boromir tells the Council where Legolas was a part, is doing not so well), at the time, 'blood has been spilled this night' is an epically dopey thing to say. Also, the sky never turns red again, but that's not Leggy's fault, I'll grant you.
