Transcripts!
Secret 1 - Fangirl (book)
I liked this book. But I would never recommend it to anyone who hadn't had experiences with fandom beforehand. The fact that the 'fandom character' happens to come from a 'broken home,' have serious soxial anxiety and happens to be a 'cardboard cutouts and posters EVERYWHERE, obsessed fan' kind of rubbed me the wrong way. There was also the fact that a majority of her fanfic writing was focused on obsessively writing about a slash One True Pairing and how much the appeal of fanfiction was about her One True Pairing.
I'm not saying that people like her don't exist (she actually reminded me a lot of one of my bet friends who happens to have low self esteem, some emotional problems and ships Destiel quiet a bit (I'm not in the Supernatural fandom)). But she has strong hobbies and interests outside of fandoms.
I like fanfiction, I've written a little bit, I have One True Pairings (including slash ones). But I think people whose main reason to be fandom are GAY One True Pairings are kind of missing the point (more LGBT representation would be great, but some people just miss the point).
I have A LIFE OUTSIDE of fandom however. I'm not going to go and say that "OMG FANDOM SHOULD GET BETTER REPRESENTATION BECAUSE THIS IS LIKE RACISM" because people who say that are douche rockets. I just wish this book didn't read like the author read two pages of Tumblr and based the character off of it.
I'm so sorry for the wall of text.
Secret 2 - Anne Neville, The White Queen (historical drama TV series)
I felt like the series exaggerated her importance as a historical figure. There's no way she was as influential as Margaret Beaufort or Elizabeth Woodville. We barely know anything about her and it's ridiculous to make up a cool story and imply the series is some triumphant tale about powerful women in history.
Secret 3 - Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen (actors)
My Thanksgiving didn't go so well but it makes me feel better to know that theirs did.
Secret 4 - Merlin (1998 TV miniseries)
This is the most touching love story I've ever seen.
Notes
Secret 5 - Elementary (TV series)
I don't ship them but see no reason why fandom has to wail over the fact that they slept together. What has it "ruined", really? I trust that the writers wouldn't include this unless it was a key plot point later on, and I trust them to do a decent job because that's what they've done so far. Why can't people just calm the fuck down and wait and see before they proclaim that their beloved series is doomed?
Secret because: Fandom seems to either ship it or hate it.
Secret 6 - Whitechapel (TV series)
I think the last season of this show was undoubtedly its weakest, but I'm still gutted taht there won't be another series, because I want more father/son moments between these two.
Bonus secret: I don't get Chandler/Kent AT ALL, since in the show it's so one-sided.
Secret 7 - Grey's Anatomy
Despite them repeatedly confirming that they're over each other, I still root for them to get back together. And I will be so disappointed if they don't.
Secret 8 - Legend of Korra
I feel like if an American (somewhat) mainstream 'children's' show was to be the first to feature LGBT representation, it would be this one. I hope this is the case, because that'd be pretty neat.
Secret 9 - Papa Pear Saga (facebook videogame), Doctor Who (TV series)
He [chill fez cloud] reminds me of Eleven.
Secret because: I play a lot of Facebook games, this surely is the lamest one. (I think the Doctor would like it though...)
Secret 10 - The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (movie), Godfrey Gao (actor)
He was the worst thing about the movie. He had no emotion or intonation - it sounded like he'd just gotten the script ten minutes ago.
Bonus Secret: I actually loved the movie, and am excited for the next one. Everyone else seems to hate it. Am I doing it wrong?
Secret 11 - Girl's Generation / SNSD (Korean musical group)
I'm really starting to dislike these three. [Kwon Yuri] She's relying too much on the backing tracks and her voice is suffering. [Tiffany Hwang] She goes WAY over the top in attention grabbing, ad-libbing extra lines and trying to be "Rapper Hwang". [Jessica Jung] She's lazy and unprofessional, and it isn't cute.
Secret Because: These are three of the most popular members, and I wouldn't be considered a "true" Sone if I admitted to not worshipping them all as flawless divine goddesses.
Notes
Also, thank you for the identifying info, OP!
Secret 12 - Real Person Shipping, Les Miserables (theatre play)
I want to see/read him [Anton Zetterholm] dominating the fuck out of him [Rob Houchen].
Secret Because: Apparently Real Person Shipping is categorically not approved of in theatre fandoms.
Thank you!
