Seriously? I mean, I get the intent but do you actually know anyone with epilepsy? We can use any one of hundreds or maybe even thousands of free tools on all the major browsers to block .gifs. There is also software that reduces the frame rate of everything on our systems because seizures can be triggered by high frame rates. It costs money but any one with epilepsy can get it for free through their doctor or epilepsy foundations/support groups.

Sorry to sound like a dick, but I see stuff like this a lot in fandom and on tumblr and I am always offended by it because people have no idea what they're talking about. If an epileptic uses a computer without safeguards, they are literally asking for trouble because just turning the computer on can trigger a seizure. So thanks if you mean well, but please stop using us as one of your causes.

DA - I know someone with epilepsy, but he's not much of a computer guy. I always tag flashy gifs to be on the safe side but if it's not actually useful, I guess I'll stop. I get the frustration.

Do you remember seizure!anon from the GC a month or so ago? They only recently discovered their issue and may not have had the time or opportunity to join one of those support groups or follow up with their doctor about internet use.

i feel bad for someone who doesn't get epilepsy until later and finds out that way but that shouldn't mean we can't post things on fs. if that person is still using the internet and hasn't read up on epilepsy, how is that noodly's fault, or anyone else that posts gifs? if there is another fser who gets epilepsy and finds out from a gif, what difference if it is on fs or on any website? gifs are uncommon here anyways so they have higher risk using facebook or some other site that has lots of flashing ads.

DA

It's not cool if people who know about seizure anon to still post such gifs. Sure if you don't know, woops, apologise, move on. But to know and acknowledge that we have at least one FS user with seizures then continue to post such gifs just makes that person a dickhead.

I guess I'm a dickhead then because I think it's stupid for a large group of people to change for one person who has the option to block the gifs.

Considering that everything I've ever seen on this issue has taught me you should warn for flashing gifs, no, I didn't know, and yes, I did mean well. Thanks for jumping down my throat about it, though.
