I don't understand the hate for Gemma. She is a product of her environment just like most of the other people on the show. You can hate her actions and not understand her but to have the level of hate fandom does and then to excuse other people on the show makes me sick. It's misogynistic to single her out like that. She is one of my favorite characters NOT because I like her but because she is interesting.

I love Gemma but I have to disagree. She's NOT a product of her environment. Jax was raised into the lifestyle, but Gemma wasn't. She was raised by a pastor in a decent middle class family. She CHOSE a life in a violent criminal underworld and she re-affirmed that choice time and time again: approving of John's murder, flipping out on Jax when he considered letting Abel be adopted, insisting that her grandsons stay in Charming, etc.
