...does great aliens in general. I always loved the 'Chanur' novels in large part because they so deftly made the human seem bizarre and alien.

Also because they're felinoid, the different physical responses--tunnel-vision narrowing when they're on the hunt, trying to diplomatically keep claws sheathed, submissive behavior, importance of ears.... I also liked that it was the women who went out and did stuff, while the men were assumed to be unable to control their emotions and so were coddled and largely useful for looking pretty and making babies.
