Bad cooks represent!

So a while back I managed to burn boiling pasta and somehow fuck up a bowl of milk and cereal in the same week. In my defense, we ran out of milk. I am currently rebelling by making pasta whilst eating a bowl of milk and cereal.

What are some stories of your own bad cooking?

One time I was boiling eggs and I forgot this was what I was doing and walked off. About an hour later there was a Big Bang in the kitchen. The water had evaporated, the pot warped and the eggs had exploded into the roof.

Cooking is just so BORING. I hate it. Having a phone with the internet is a godsend, keeps me in the kitchen.

Haha, same - the only way I can cook anything that takes longer than like two minutes is if I have something to read (iPod, book, magazine, anything) while cooking. Otherwise I'd spend my life living off of toast. -_-

95% percent of "bad cooking" is just not paying attention, you know. I mean, you can overmix dough when baking, but cooking pasta? Just resist the siren call of the tv or your phone or people in your house, know what frequently and constantly mean, and follow the directions.

One time I forgot to add water to instant noodles and didn't take it out of the microwave until after it was partially on fire.

ahahahahahaha. I did this once in grad school too. just put a packet of dry ramen in a bowl and stuck it in a microwave. i think i was reading while I was doing it. then i was sad because i had nothing to eat but burning noodles. LOL

I haven't done this yet but I was there when my cousin forget to add water to some easy mac before putting in the microwave.

Not just the macaroni, but the bowl itself, had to be thrown away.

At uni I hugely fucked up making paella by adding tablespoons of the spices needed rather than teaspoons. Suffice to say it was not edible and take-out was had instead that evening.

I got powdered sugar confused with flour once while trying to make chicken and dumplings. In my defense Mom kept everything in big plastic containers at the time, and the labels were really worn. Destroying my defense, I had cooked in that kitchen so many times before I really should have remembered where the damn flour was.

Another time I was making Salmon cakes and one of them I tried to flip just did this perfect flip right off my spatula and into the trash can. I went to tell Mom about it, and on the way to the room she was in(which was a very, very short trip.) this somehow funniest thing that had ever happened to me apparently, because the moment I opened my mouth to tell her all I could do was laugh. She stared at me and I had to walk away and calm myself. This happened three freaking times before she actually asked if I had flipped one onto the trash can. All I could do was nod right after she asked, but I was able to finally calm down and finish dinner.
