I know nothing about the Les Miserables fandom, but it seems like it would be... kind of appropriate? Because they're having a REVOLUTION for JUSTICE and EQUALITY in response to A DEEPLY FLAWED SOCIETY... aaaand a whole bunch of people are going to suffer and it won't accomplish much.

But hopefully with less death.

yeah I didn't know that Bossuet was Black in fanon and drew him movie-style and people flipped their shit; and apparently they've decided that because Enjolras is described as being pretty in the book, he's FTM and you should never mention anything to the contrary... idk. And Grantaire is pansexual with homosexual leanings and... I don't KNOW. It's very complicated. I can't keep up.

Just do your thing, ignore them, and be happy. And draw the characters any damn way you want. These people sound crazy presumptive to try to push their head canons off on an entire fandom.
