Well, it might not be the best reason to dislike a character, but imo it's an understandable one. Unfortunately sometimes things like this happen, where you associate a character or series with someone that you don't like, or someone who has wronged you (etc etc.) and it ruins things for you. It sucks, but it can happen.

It's not a shady reason. Emotions are complicated things. Maybe in a bit of time you can disassociate Ruby from the RPer.

It sucks that people can ruin characters or shows.

I hope you aren't who I think you are because you were really horrible to that player and others too. That Cory Monteith secret makes me think you might be, since you're also the only person I know who started playing Finn after Cory died and have somehow decided that makes you "gutsy."

But yeah, I get where you're coming from. It's not a great reason, but I can see how that would skew your feelings about a character.

This is how I feel when I see Katniss Everdeen because of a bully from one of my LJ RP boards. It does feel like a shady reason, but I can't help it.

Secret 4 - Once Upon a Time (TV series), role playing

She used to be one of my favorite characters on Once Upon a Time. Then I joined a role-playing board, where some girl had her in some predominant plot... This player was absolutely horrible to me for no reason whatsoever. Now I can no longer look at this character without disdain because all I can think about is how horrible this girl was to me.

Secret Because: I feel like it's some shady reason to hate a character...

If you are who I think you are (and given all that has gone on recently, I have no reason to doubt it), no. This person was a bit curt and abrasive, but you were the bully. Not only did you harrass her and the person she was RPing with incessently, despite mods telling you to back away, you kept it going well after the fact and got your friends to harrass her too. You don't get to make a "pity me" secret with how you acted in this whole situation. I can't even believe your nerve.

If this, by some weird coincidence, is not that person, then I apologize for the rant. But that person is a shitty excuse for a human being and really affected a lot of people, so I couldn't let it stand. If you are not that person, and the RPer was bothering you without you being part of it, I'm sorry it happened to you. I generally just ignore the RPer in question, without it affecting how I view the character, but I could see how that might not be possible.

Really. Clearly she'll go to any lengths to try and drum up sympathy for something she is responsible for by making herself like the poor put upon victim. Obviously she's desperate for attention of any kind.

I see you trying to do this where people don't know you and won't know the truth, that it is you who is the bully. You're not fooling anyone on here who actually knows what happened. This RPer and her friend don't deserve any of the nastiness you've sent their way. Quit crying victim when you're anything but.

It's normal, OP. Some RPers can somehow alter your perception of a character, especially if you interact with them long enough. I used to be part of a Disney RP group and there were some Disney movies I didn't want to watch for a while because the RPers playing the characters in them just sort of ruined them for me. That's not the case anymore, so perhaps a little break might help your like of this character return.

Hi guys I am reading through the comments (this is the author of the Secret by the way in case you are wondering). Uh, I don't know who this girl you are talking about is here...but I am assuming she plays on LJ. I don't even play on there.

The only places I play are on Tumblr, JCINK, Invisionfree and Insanejournal. And in the secret I was talking about a girl on the Inivisionfree/JCINK sector who made fun of me because I liked fandoms that she didn't like and harassed me and my characters from those fandoms in the threads because of that (also I was an admin on that same board and shot down alot of her plots and turning her characters into Mary Sues), not only that she made fun of me because I was Islamic, and when I disagreed with her she called me a terrorist. We recently had to throw her off the board because of it.

Whatever this girl you are talking about in the comments has done in the comments I am sorry that she has hurt you. But the fact you are labeling me as her is really hurtful...after all the trouble this other player caused me (and even some of my friends).....I will no longer be placing secrets here if this is going to be the case every time.

I am one of the anons from above. I am sorry that someone made fun of you for being Islamic. That is never okay to do. As I said in my comment above, if you were not the person I was thinking of and the reaction from the other person was unprovoked, I can see why it would bother you.

It is just that this secret came right after the other situation with the other person came to a head, and the timing seemed suspect. I doubt this would be the case every time you chose to submit a secret, as the odds of you having timing like this would be small, one would assume.

I'm not one of the people above but I was about to say pretty much the same thing as they did, thinking this is too big of a coincidence to actually be one and you not being who I and some other people thought you were.

However, after reading this comment (aside from you saying it wasn't on LJ) you do sound like someone else. Just the style in which the comment was written doesn't look like it came from the person I was almost 100% sure posted the secret.

I'm sorry if you feel jumped on but really with everything that's been going on with that person, your secret just had a strange timing, is all.

If someone was horrible to you I can see that being a valid reason for disliking a character they RP.

If this isn't you, I sincerely apologize, but it's really strange to see these words she has posted repeatedly in other places on secrets that apparently aren't hers.

Hey, my gf's mum, when she was looking to adopt her, specified disability ok, deformities ok, anything ok, *except* red hair. Because a girl at school who picked on her had red hair. (My gf has safely brown hair, haha.) So this kind of irrational but understandably strong aversion can carry over to irl stuff!

I get the same feeling whenever I watch the Lothlorien scenes in FotR, because of Haldir. It's not even Haldir who is the problem, but his actor, Craig Parker. I was in a huge multifandom RP and got into a dispute with someone who RP'd Craig Parker RPF.

The same player also put me off Milla Jovovich due to using icons of her in a Ranma 1/2 style genderswitch plot.

That happens with just about everyone who rps fandom for long enough. Don't feel bad, you're allowed to dislike who you dislike.
