Fashion trends you like and hate or something

(Anonymous) 2013-12-22 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw this dumb article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/18/clothing-guys-hate_n_4293315.html

And was curious what current fashion thing you really like and which ones you really don't.

I love the oversized sweaters.

Wow, that is a dumb article.

I also like oversized sweaters. The only trend I don't like are harem pants/low-crotch pants because I don't really like the image of the bagginess that tapers into a weird skinny cuff.

That article annoyed me so much. All the guys comments assume that everything a woman wears is for his entertainment or pleasure or something. Fuck you dudes, I don't care if you think my comfy high waisted shorts make it look like I'm "trying too hard" or that you think a bow in my hair makes me look like a schoolgirl or that you don't like my "mullet skirt" because then you can't stare at my ass/thighs.

Sorry, I know that wasn't your point in linking but ugh. Pet peeve there.

This, I wanted to mention that too how self-entitled those comments sound, and that those men actually think women wear makeup/clothes for them and their opinions matter on a girl's style.

It's super dumb

but I really like the fact that there's only one quote because it makes me think they talked to literally one guy and these are all just his extremely opinionated weird ideas and they made it into a big article and it's really funny to me.

That makes it so much more tolerable to read this thing. Thank you.

Yeah but I mean...men don't wear stuff for women either.

http://www.complex.com/style/2013/07/things-men-wear-that-women-hate/

Maybe...it is just a silly list? Maybe...

That article is about things that specific women hate, which is a little different. (Sort of unrelated, but the title makes me laugh too.)

Hate, don't hate, don't hate, don't hate, don't hate, don't hate, kind of hate, don't hate, eh, eh, don't hate, don't hate, don't hate, eh, eh, don't hate, hate, hate, don't hate, really like, eh, eh, eh

BUT THAT'S JUST THE WAY I SEE IT

Those open side shirts. Blech. I hate them on men and women. I don't wanna see your sweaty armpit.

I'm woefully fashion-ignorant, but the wedge sneakers in that article are super cute, and pantsuits are always great and classy. The leggings with cool patterns are nice too. c:

I like (or am at least okay with) the majority of these.

High waisted skirts are sexy as hell. Don't wear them myself, but damn do I love the look of them. Sweaters, be they over-sized or not, are totally fine. I really, really love lipstick too. Not just bright lipstick, pretty much any lipstick, but I think bright lipstick is gorgeous and eye-catching. Eyeshadow too. I WEAR WHAT I WANT.

Most of these are fine to me, some of them I wouldn't wear but for the most part I think they look nice. They can fuck right off with the beanie hate though, those are the only kinds of hats I wear in the winter, they'll have to be pried from my cold dead hands before I stop wearing them.

Wow, that's a pretty stupid article. I didn't see where their sample size came from, but I can guarantee I know at least one guy for every item on that list who likes those trends.

Also, to the comment about pantsuits: kiss my ass, douchebag.
starphotographs: This field is just more space for me to ramble and will never be used correctly. I am okay with this! (Ginko (default))

You know, I've never liked peplums. Even before I knew what they were called. They just seem so superfluous. And pointy shoes and fake nails don't seem specific to any one era, but both of them bother me. D:

I like sweaters of any shape or size. And leggings with neat prints, which I wear as tights (that last!), not pants, because the latter looks kind of unfinished to me.

I really like those skirts that are long in the back but shorter in the front. Those are really cool and I want one!

I can't think of any fashion thing I really don't like, at least not off the top of my head.

Yeah, I saw that article the other day as well and I was pretty annoyed. Men may not realize this but we women don't wear clothes or put on makeup or cut our hair a certain way for them. I was like, "Fuck you, dude. I'm going to wear whatever the fuck I want."

I like bold colored lipsticks.

I am convinced that Uggs are a conspiracy to prove that even the ugliest bullshit can become a huge fashion trend if enough people fall for the marketing campaign that insists something is cool and flattering when it objectively isn't, ugh, god, my hate for Uggs so irrational and I know it and I just can't stop.

They make absolutely amazing winter house slippers - never have my toes been so toasty - but I side-eye people who wear them outdoors (and aren't, like, Australian sheep herders, or whoever they were originally invented for). It's like, did you forget to put on real shoes?

Re: Fashion trends you like and hate or something

I hate those stupid cropped half-shirts that are made to show your stomach. I keep seeing what look like really cute shirts folded on a table at stores and then I unfold it and it's just a stupid half shirt. I especially hate how half shirts and dresses with random cut-outs at the sides and funkily-cropped things in general seem to be 'in' right now. Even ignoring my personal feelings on how much skin I feel comfortable showing, it's fucking winter right now. Some of us female types would like to actually be covered up and warm when there's snow on the ground and it's freezing out, thanks fashion industry. At least save that shit for summer.

Peplums are ugly as fuck. Even the name is ugly.

But seriously, fuck them for that pantsuit comment. "You're a woman, not a man." BECAUSE WOMEN WEARING PANTS IS SOME NEW RADICAL THING YOU GUYS.

I love mullet dresses, idgaf.

Wow, that was a dumb article.

For real, woman in masculine clothing isn't groundbreaking at all.

(And usually looks really really great.)

Personally, I hate everything with animal prints or neon colours.

that was a stupid article.
some of those trends are ones i don't care for but a lot of them are OK.
Guys bitching about pantsuits on women is Mad Men levels of sexist asshattery.
I do think no one should wear giant hair bows unless you're cosplaying Apple Bloom, though.
