Transcripts!
Secret 1 - Anne McCaffrey (author), Dragonriders of Pern (book series), Dragons (dragons)
I wish we could get an Anne McCaffrey dragon movie. I just want to see all the dragons!
Secret 2 - Monster High
I hate that some states get these dolls weeks to months before other states. It just doesn't seem fair that I can't buy the ones I want because our stores don't sell them yet, but people in other states can get them now and sell them for twice the price. I don't see how it would be difficult to have them all sold at the same time. I don't even live in the middle of nowhere, I'm in a fairly big town and no place within fifty miles even has the ones I want. It just doesn't seem fair. All I wanted was a Jane Boolittle for Christmas, but I can't get one even though I saw people have had her since freaking Thanksgiving.
Secret 3 - L.A. Confidential (film)
I wish they had ended up together. I really hated Bud.
Secret 4 - Once Upon a Time (TV series), role playing
She used to be one of my favorite characters on Once Upon a Time. Then I joined a role-playing board, where some girl had her in some predominant plot... This player was absolutely horrible to me for no reason whatsoever. Now I can no longer look at this character without disdain because all I can think about is how horrible this girl was to me.
Secret Because: I feel like it's some shady reason to hate a character...
Secret 5 - Mark Watches (reviewer)
I feel kind of like "SPOILS" spoiled free videos. I know it doesn't take THAT MUCH work to paste an old URL into the bar and change some numbers, but I bet there are a tonne of people who wouldn't do that or re-watch an episode after the post goes live if the pre-emptive links weren't an option.
I don't MIND paying, because I feel like Mark's gone out of his way to keep them cheap and provide ways for people to view for free at the mercy of others, but I just feel this way anyway.
Secret 6 - Cory Monteith (actor)
It hurts me everyday that I feel in love with him after he died, not only because I feel like a superficial fan but I didn't get to appreciate him while he was still alive.
Secret Because: I did start watching Glee after his death because my Role-Playing partner needed someone gutsy enough to play him after the fact.
Secret 7 - Thorin Oakenshield (character), The Hobbit (films)
Whenever I see Thorin/Original Female Character fanfic mentioning the non-Dwarf Original Female Character is "small in stature/small for the race of Men/smaller than Thorin" or a Hobbit (and MOST Thorin/Original Female Character is like that, not to mention full of self-inserts, but that's another story), I can't help but hink the author doesn't like short men in general or, at least, their men being shorter than women.
Is it really so hard to get over the fact that most women would be taller than Thorin? I don't understand why people are so bothered by the size difference and the reversal. There are lots of interesting things you could do with it (not just smut-wise). If only writers used their imagination! I just find it a lost opportunity.
It reminds me of comments from last year when fangirls would go: "Oh, I fantasize about Thorin all the time BUT in my mind he's not short, he's as tall as Richard Armitage LOL!" Are you shipping yourself with Thorin or the actor?
Secret 8 - Girl Genius (comic)
I'm a very monogamy-oriented person. I don't get stupid and judgey over other people being poly, but it's not something for me, and it's not something I've ever really enjoyed in fiction. Until this panel. Now I have a One True Threesome.
(But only as an equilateral triad, not as a V. Gil and Tarvek have to be into each other, too.)
Notes
Secret 9 - Jennifer Lawrence (actress)
I think she's a mediocre actress.
Secret 10 - Fanfiction gift exchanges
Fic exchanges with reveal periods well after the authors' due dates drive me right up a wall. I get why they need to work that way, but I am apparently a high-maintenance fic-writing machine that runs on validation.
[arrow pointing at previous text] This was my best guess at a legible font color.
Secret 11 - Frozen, shipping
The movie has only been out for a little while and I am already SICK of people shipping them, especially when they go "Oh I didn't MEAN to ship them, but I do SO HARD teehee!"
Now, I usually ship and let ship, but the ENTIRE POINT of the movie was that love does NOT need to be romantic to be true and important. When you ship them, you are ignoring and trashing that. Way to go.
Not Secret - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
What I just watched wasn't 'The Hobbit', it was 3 hours of 'Legolas by Laura'. It was a self-indulgent director misinterpreting his source material. It was an entire film strung together from Lord of the Ring injokes and redundant action sequences. It was a writing team deciding 'What the heck did Tolkien know about storytelling, anyway!' It was a token female character whose only function outside being The Love Interest was derailed by her being The Love Interest.
And the worst thing? Bilbo, Thorin and Smaug were excellent. charactersation, acting = A+. The bits of Beorn's house and Mirkwood we actually got to see where awesome. Shame Peter Jackson couldn't have made that film. You know, the one based on the cool story that guy Tolkien wrote.
