please no movie with lessa as the main character... she's so horrible.

IA, it was good for a short story, but wore WAY too thin once it got stretched out to several books.

idk, like I said in the comment I think that the plot of Dragonflight could fill up a movie pretty decently. And I think that with some tweaking Lessa's character could end up pretty darn awesome.
And if you get rid of the rapey aspects (which is how I think McCaffrey saw it in her mind), Lessa and F'lar are one hell of a power couple. You have romance, drama, and a woman who fights her way to the top. It's got potential, imo.

i think lessa is just marginally a less horrible person than f'lar even without the rape. :/ i just couldn't stand those two.

DA. I admit I didn't really care for Lessa's character, but on the other hand, I did actually like that she was really hard and difficult to like. It made sense with her background. And, fortunately, she seemed to moderate a bit in later books (I've only read the first three, so I'm probably missing stuff). But those hard-edged unreasonable parts of her seemed to be a deliberate choice on the part of the writer, and they made sense to me.

i'm not sure about that, though. i absolutely agree that her character made sense within her story, but i never got the feeling that we were supposed to disapprove of her actions or character.
