My new icon is a character from the game NieR. It's a fantastic game for the Xbox 360 that was passed up by a lot of gamers for the lackluster graphics and odd gameplay (it's generally an RPG/action adventure game, but it has moments of platform gaming, choose your own adventure/text scroll gaming, and puzzle solving). It has lots of heart and an amazing cast of characters who I have fallen in love with.

Ooo, I've heard of NieR! I've def seen people say it's underrated, and I was actually thinking of buying it before it was released, but I never got around to it.
How's the difficulty? Is it a long game? Fun?

You can pick from easy, normal, and hard. So there is a setting for everyone. I haven't finished it yet, but I am 15 hours in. I believe the game is 20-30 hours depending on the difficulty setting (Grinding. In easy there is barely none and in normal some and hard lots), and if you do the side quests/fetch quests. Fetch quests are really menial and not the greatest, but they do offer more dialogue between your team mates which is always great.
I've found the game really fun. Once I figured out the magic spells I liked for Nier and that the jump button is your friend, I've had a lot. I heard that some people don't like the battle system, but I enjoy it.
There is one dungeon that I hate, but I learned a few cheats on how to defeat it (by myself) and it's a lot easier now. A problem some people had is that you keep revisiting about six main areas over again. And the areas aren't exactly awe inspiring. But, I haven't minded that aspect. The character dialogue and back stories for them is what pulls me in.
There are also four ending to unlock. You start the game from the second main half each time, I believe. Supposedly it's really worth playing all four times as each ending delves deeper into characters and I think parts of the plot change as well as you play (but I could be wrong on that one. I have to wait and see).
The storyline is really fantastic as it follows a man named Nier who is looking for a cure for his daughter (people have compared Nier to Solid Snake in appearance). A fathers love for his daughter is the driving force and I love their relationship together. Nier also gets three companions as he travels Kaine, Weiss a talking book, and the character in my icon. Kaine is a foul mouthed women who is so fucking awesome I just can't contain my love for her. She dresses in ass crack showing lingerie, but idec as I love her so much. Grimoire Weiss is a book that gives Nier magic abilities. He's sassy as hell and does great kinda deadpan humour and bothers everyone. I love him. The character in my icon is a slight spoiler, so I don't want to say their name. I was spoiled about who it was from thE GAME MANUAL, so don't read it if you get it! It won't take away from the playing experience, but it might confuse you and only make sense after you're halfway through the game.
TL;DR: IT'S AN AMAZING GAME THAT I LOVE WITH ALL MY HEART AND I HAVEN'T EVEN BEATEN IT YET. So if you ever see it, I'd suggest picking it up! :)
(P.S. Just in case you do play it, there is a fishing quest at the very beginning that drove me wild, but the internet helped me figure out why I kept failing. Some people quit the game because of it, but that's only because the instructions in the game are wrong. Once you figure out why, it's smooth sailing.)
Sorry for the word vomit! Haha.

Fishing quests sound kind of fun! Idk, I would probably regret saying that if I had to actually play it, lol. I liked the fishing stuff in Fable okay. And the ending thing sounds kind of exciting and rewarding, though at the same time that's a loooot of gameplay for the full story. But it would be easy to watch the alts if you wanted to quickly see what happens so i think it's pretty cool. Hopefully you'll get lots of bang for your buck!
I might try it sometime! Maybe if I can catch it on sale. It sounds like my kind of game.

Most of the fetch quests aren't mandatory. You just need to do a few for cash as shades (monsters) don't drop any. I've only done a few and some you complete while you're on a larger quest as well. The fishing quest was murder, not because of the fishing itself, but the game tells you to fish in the WRONG SPOT. I was so angry as I had been fishing for like an hour with no luck. But so many people were pissed off about it, the developers put in a patch so when you find the right spot, days skip and the game catches the fish for you, haha.
I only had to do that one fishing quest so far, but I know you can do others. Oh, also you can also do farming in the game. I haven't done any yet, but I hope it's fun.
I will see if I'll do the four endings or not. I might, since I love it a lot, but doing things over can suck. But yes, youtube is everyone's friend!
The game has been worth every penny so far :) If you play it one day, I hope you like it!
