Olivia and Abbie were screwing around on and off for most of season 1 of SVU. Then Olivia slept with Brian, and when she realized he was looking for more than a one night stand, she panicked and went back to Abbie. He found out (probably from Munch, that gossip) and it was basically salt on the rejection wound. Now that Brian and Olivia are actually together it's still kind of a sore point for him, even after 14 years, and they fight whenever Abbie's in town.
