Re: Elaborate ridiculous theories or headcanons you have
.) BBC Merlin [Disclaimer: never saw Season 5, so this may be canon or canonically disproved]: Ygraine never really loved Uther. She liked him okay, but for her the marriage was nice and practical, and she didn't return Uther's all-consuming love for her. Uther knew this, which was why he slept with Morgana's mother in a fit of despair. Ygraine DID, however, love her baby/the idea of being a mother. Uther spun a lot of that Passionate True Love story after her death, in large part for Arthur's sake, and after a while he started to believe it.
.) MCU: The Asgardians are actually humans from SUPER far into the future who reached the end of the universe/lost the planet/etc and traveled back in time in order to have somewhere else to go. That's why their entire world is basically a rock floating in space - giant spaceship type thing - and that's why they look like humans: they ARE humans. Their longevity, strength, healing, etc? The extremely refined results of centuries of supersoldier experiments/research. Over the centuries, the way to make a perfect human/soldier was found, refined, made consistent, and spread from not just making supersoldiers but something given to everyone in society - and before it was encoded into DNA, it wasn't even some kind of medical treatment like Steve's from CA1, but something you could eat - which is where the "golden apple" myths came from. Asgardians, if you ask them, can trace their culture/heritage back hundreds of thousands, or flat out millions of years - but even they aren't completely sure where they came from, and this is the reason why. When our descendents went back in time, they went as far back as possible. In other words, Asgardians are the descendents of humanity from billions of years down the line.
.) MCU: in a completely different and unrelated headcanon, the reason why Asgardians look like humans is actually the other way around - humans look like Asgardians. Why? Either some kind of bet or experiment, but someone somewhere wanted to see what a tinge of Asgardian DNA (or some other kind of influence) would do in another species, and the closest match were primates.
.) MCU Iron Man: Christine Everhart was an anomaly. Most women who were only interested in a one-night stand with Tony Stark were quite nice to the lady who woke them up on time, got their clothes cleaned, and had breakfast and a car ready. Pepper even stayed in touch with them, as friends and as professional contacts. When Pepper starts dating Tony, she's still friends with them, and rather than any feelings of jealousy, she mostly compares notes with them and even gets some tips from them. Most of the time, the only ones who were rude to her were the extremely few who went in convinced they could be "The One" to tame Tony/become his girlfriend/etc and didn't like how Pepper's presence and actions disproved this so sharply and blatantly. (And actually, while they don't personally like each other, Pepper even understood that Christine was only insulting her in her efforts to get a story, and that she is actually very good at digging up information, so they remain at the very least professional contacts).
.) MCU: Howard Stark once proposed to Peggy Carter - not because he loved her, but because they both loved Steve (though not romantically in his case). Peggy refused for political/career reasons, but also because she disagrees so vehemently with Howard's constant searching for Steve's body. She thought it took away from the dignity and finality of Steve's death. It was when she refused that Howard got drunk, knocked up Maria Carbonell, and ended up marrying her instead.
