Speaking personally, I sort of gave her a pass because I knew she would die for in-universe reasons--there wasn't really a way for her to get out alive. It's when a character is going to die solely for out-of-universe reasons that I get frustrated. It's like when a fake bat appears in an old movie--if you can see the strings, it stops feeling real. (I know some people judge on different metrics, e.g. "Killing off children is an easy gut punch that doesn't require much effort from the writer, so I get frustrated if a child is killed off," but that's not how I personally feel.)
