Eh, they seem to go way more for action-comedy than drama though, and seeing as Holmes wanting Mary to not be there was a big thing and a source of conflict in both the first movies, it'll fit better with a comedic-toned movie if the arc is "Holmes stops being childish and accepts Watson getting married" than "Oh hey, Mary died. Forget all the previous conflict because now Holmes and Watson have nothing to argue over."

In a TV show, I'd expect her to die, but not in the last installment of a pretty goofy and light-hearted movie trilogy. Especially as they developed Mary's character a good bit in the second movie.
