Mackenzie Crook?? Man I do not care what role he has, I'm watching this. Thank you OP. c:

Secret 1 - Almost Human (TV series), Mackenzie Crook (actor)

[Picture is Mackenzie Crook portraying the Technician Rudy Lom from the TV series "Almost Human".]

When I first read about Almost Human, all that they mentioned was that Mackenzie Crook was in a police drama with robots. I assumed he would be the main cop with a robot sidekick.

I adore the show as it is... but I secretly wish my assumption had been right. It would have been cool to see Crook in Karl Urban's place, as a scrawny and unintimidating cop instead of the usual tough guy.

I always get him and David Wilmot confused unless they use their real accents.

You're probably never going to see a wimpy cop on television. Cops are, by and large, not wimpy, and even if they were, American media is never going to miss a chance to have a cop show about some dishy hero. You might have better luck with British television, since they seem to care less about that.

True. All the cops I've met in the US are built more like Urban than Cook. Even the desk jockey ones.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Shit, where do you people live? In my area they're all built like Danny DeVito. Regardless of age.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
My cop BIL is built like Karl Urban. He's obsessed with his egg whites and getting tons of protein.

What about Barney from the Andy Griffith Show?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
This is really more about cop dramas. Anything done for comedy is going to have different guidelines.

But that's wrong.

Yeah, because we believe you.

In the 'knowing cops' stakes I'm guessing I have more experience than anyone here outside that one ex-police german anon.

You get wimpy cops. Not as many as most any other career outside the military or say construction, but they're certainly there.

DJ Qualls has been a cop in like three shows including Breaking Bad which is about as serious as it gets.

Granted it was kinda silly, but there ya go.

And Memphis Blues! Probably my favourite role of his. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Memphis BEAT. I'm an idiot.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I saw a promo first and it seemed like he was their tech-wiz or something of the like. But I do wish we could see him in a role like Karl's instead at some point.

I like this guy's face. I need to watch more things with him.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS!! I teaches us a great lesson. Even the meek can be heroes.

And I love his character too X3 he's adorable!

NGL, he's my favorite character on a show filled with great characters.

But then, Sid was my favorite character in CSI:NY.

...I may have a type.

I think that would have been cool.

But I have to ask, is this Crook's face photoshopped on Matthew Gray Gubler's body? The hair, the neck, and the clothes all resemble Reid/Gubler's.

Oh thank god I'm not the only one. When I first saw this show I went and immediately shrieked to my friend about how That Pirate With The Eye had suddenly become Spencer Reid.

He does a good job, but I was kind of bummed he was the stereotypical robot nerd. If he and Minka Kelly had switched roles, I think it'd have been refreshing.
