I'm always up for a good 'They fight crime!' AU.

And Bilbo is the only one who can tolerate Smaug, and gets him to refocus when he starts looking too speculatively at a client's gold.

Hehe, I don't read many AU's of Tolkien's work (it just feels weird to me), but this I like.

LOL. I love you.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
With Rupert Graves as the saucy young gamekeeper?

Hey, I can dream.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not in either fandom, but that sounds awesome and I would read the hell out of it anyway.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding!

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Who the hell uses yaoi these days? How old are you?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Anime fan, I'm guessing. It's still in common use in a lot of those fandoms.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Fans of the pairings too? Because lately I only see people using the word yaoi in their story summaries to say it isn't. "NO YAOI!!" tagged onto the end rather obnoxiously.

The OP's possible liking for anime aside, look at the usage:

"Your poor fangirl hearts have been blinded by the yaoi"

That is some grade A sarcastic usage there!.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
People might not call it yaoi but it's still fucking yaoi.

Though the term has fallen in disuse, the archetypes and dynamics more popular on slash fandom are pure yaoi; which is very interesting since these fangirls don't necessarily come from an anime background.

Clearly you haven't been reading much of the good slashfic, and not, you know, the dreck.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
So fucking write it?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Why would they write something for a show they don't watch?

Secret 5 - The Hobbit (films), Sherlock (BBC TV series)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the following text over a white blank background:

Watson: So where have you been?

Sherlock: Became a dragon and space terrorist, you?

Watson: I was a Hobbit...

Sherlock: What's a Hobbit?

Watson: It's a... Wait a minute... Your voice...

Sherlock: What?

Watson: Smaug?!

Sherlock: BILBO.]

[Text from the actual secret maker:]

I don't even watch Sherlock but the casting of the Hobbit has left me on the floor laughing like a fuck-knuckle. I just want a Cop show parody where it goes, "He's a hairy-toed hobbit. He's a firebreathing dragon. Together they solve crime." But no, I get Human!Smaug fucking Bilbo instead. Don't you fangirls know what hilarity you're missing out on? Your poor fangirl hearts have been blinded by the yaoi when we could be having "ELEMENTARY DEAR BILBO, RAWRR!"

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Fandom is mostly about shipping, and this should surprise exactly no one. Epic crossovers don't seem likely, especially with those particular fandoms.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
It could be a shippy AU, if nothing else. I've seen some shippy AUs that are actually very immersive and well thought out. But I guess it would be a bit too much to ask from Sherlock fans.
pantswarrior: Gumshoe looks like he's plotting something. (mischievous)

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2013-12-25 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I would read the crap out of that and I'm not in EITHER fandom. :D

All I want for Christmas is "ELEMENTARY DEAR BILBO, RAWWRR" AU.

So what you do

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
is, you go talk about this idea on fail_fandomanon on LJ.

Because FFA would love this, and chances that someone there will write at least a little of it? EXCELLENT.

You'll want to leave off the part about yaoi fangirls, though, unless you want endless wank instead of story.

Agreed 100%
