An ex-roommate/friend once introduced me as her "pet dog" to some housewarming guests and if you don't understand how insulting that is then god help you. I'm a person, not someone's pathetic little sidekick begging for treats. Needless to say that raised a few red flags; soon later the roommate turned out to be an abusive psycho and I'm glad I ended that friendship early
