Gloomy Christmas Anecdotes

(Anonymous) 2013-12-25 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
So... I've just realized this morning that my 7 y/o niece never remembers a time when there were no Christmas bomb threats and there were time when police and/or bomb squads don't hang around your church while you're in service.

Apparently I had a way better childhood in comparison, at least in this regard. That's depressing.

Eh, why not.

Christmas Eve is the anniversary of two of my pet's deaths, 5 years apart, both of them when with petsitters, so I get a little antsy this time of year if I don't have my pets with me.

I got thrown out with my mother and little sister one Christmas Eve, that was fun.

I really should stop telling stories when you ask about sad ones, mine are always too sad...

OH GOD.

My boyfriend and I got kicked out of the house where we were staying last Christmas Eve.

Why has this happened to two people here?! We're not even a particularly large group!

My father is a childcare worker and covers the christmas period. It's incredibly sad, like leaving christmas meals to go pick up some kids that have been locked outside and are wandering on the road while the parents were off drinking.

Or called by concerned parents because their troubled teen has disappeared after threatening suicide

Oof, that's tough. Christmas and summer seem to be the roughest, when it comes to kids.

Happy thoughts and wishes your dad, and you and the rest of your family. Hopefully you can have a Merry Christmas with each other.

My cousin died in a car accident twelve years ago, just before Christmas.

I will be spending part of this evening and tomorrow's driving out in the snow to clean up dog pee and poo.

Yesterday was one of my younger cousins' birthdays, so people were posting pics of him from when he was a kid all day yesterday on Facebook, and posting to his wall to tell him happy birthday and how awesome his kids are and stuff.

He killed himself a couple years ago.

It's not actually Christmas, but close/I associate it with Christmas... My father and I were Christmas shopping together. He had just bought me a wok, and we were in the car, driving home, when he had a heart attack and died. I have never used the wok, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it either, even though it has now been over a decade.

My grandpa died on Christmas Day, six years ago. He had Parkinson's.

My dad went to the hospital on Christmas Eve seven years ago, and died early the next morning. So that's my depressing story.
