Because dogs basically follow your every word and every action unconditionally.

People don't really like to live up to this image, unless they have some kind of weird kink.

And this probably also factors into why I'm not particularly fond of the animal, itself. (Cats have more of their own personality.)

That's just what dogs want you to think.

One ideal of a dog does. Individual dogs may vary.

Cats have more of their own personality.

Spoken like someone who has not met very many dogs.

This x100. I'll never understand why people are so...misunderstanding when it comes to dogs. I've owned many cats and dogs throughout my life, and they all have very distinct personalities, quirks, and interests. They aren't all just slobbering brainless mutts who do nothing but eat poop and sniff butts all day. (Funnily enough, my current cat enjoys sniffing butts and rolling in poop more than my dogs do.)

Tell me about it. We have two dogs right now, both chihuahuas (not planned, they both fell into our life) and they are very different people. The older one is shy and scared of new people, but can't get enough affection from my mom and family members. The younger one is very outgoing and likes to meet new people. And these are two dogs who are close to the same age (about a year apart), same breed, both male... very different personalities.

Ahahaha, you've never met a dachshund, have you?

Or a terrier.
