...Demiromantic?

Did someone read too many stories about love at first sight and think that's how it usually works?

I'll be honest, Demiromantic and Demisexual are two orientation tags I just don't get. It sounds way too much as a 'special snowflake' syndrome... it doesn't help that apparently the first use of it online was a RPG game or something?

I have no idea why 'I only fall in love with people I already know and have a deep connection with' needs a special label outside 'people'.

(Of course, I might be misunderstanding what demiromantic or demisexual mean)

I've never heard demiromantic. I thought demisexual was "I only experience sexual desire for those I already know and have a deep connection with." Maybe it's more about being very picky though. Like being almost asexual/aromantic, but very very rarely being attracted to someone. Or maybe it's just a convenient label for people who aren't sure if they're asexual/aromantic or not.

Honestly, it seems like the labeling makes some things more confusing.
